Cincinnati Masters: Atmane denies Fonseca his first Masters 1000 round of 16 spot

French qualifier Terence Atmane beat Brazilian Joao Fonseca 6-3, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Monday night.
Both of the players had the possibility to reach their first round of 16 in a Masters 1000 event.
Atmane, ranked No 136, will play American Taylor Fritz, the No 4 seed, next. Ahead of his victory, the Frenchman edged out Italian Flavio Cobolli, the No 15 seed (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5)) and won against Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (6-2, 6-2).
