Australian wild card Max Purcell beat Tomas Machac 6-4, 7-6 (1) to move into the second round of the Western & Southern Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon
Purcell, ranked No 68, will next face the winner of the match between Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta and American Sebastian Korda, the No 16 seed.
