Cincinnati Masters: Schwartzman reaches last 16

Diego Schwartzman defeated Aslan Karatsev 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-2 on Wednesday night and will face the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed, and Serb Filip Krajinovic in the next round

Argentinian Diego Schwartzman, the No 13 seed, beat Russian Aslan Karatsev 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Wednesday night.

Schwartzman, ranked No 16, will face the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed, and Serb Filip Krajinovic next.

In the previous round of the Cincy Open, the Argentinian won against Slovak Alex Molcan (5-7, 6-4, 6-2).

Karatsev, ranked No 38, won against American Brandon Nakashima (7-5, 7-5) in the first round of the Cincy Open.
