Cincinnati Masters: Tiafoe advances to last eight, defeating Lehecka

American Frances Tiafoe advanced to the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters by edging out Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-7 (10), 7-6 (5) at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Saturday night.

Tiafoe, ranked No 26, will face Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the American defeated Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-3, 7-6 (6)) and Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 14 seed (6-3, 6-2).

Lehecka, ranked No 35, won against Argentinian Mariano Navone (7-6 (3), 6-3) and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 4 seed (7-6 (2), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Cincy Open.
