Dallas Open: Giron defeats Purcell to move into last eight
Marcos Giron defeated Max Purcell 6-4, 6-3 and will face the winner of the match between top seed Frances Tiafoe and Alex Michelsen in the next round

American Marcos Giron moved into the quarter-finals of the Dallas Open by beating Australian Max Purcell, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-3 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
Giron, ranked No 67, will face the winner of the match between top seed Frances Tiafoe and Alex Michelsen next.
Ahead of his victory, the American defeated qualifier Nicolas Moreno De Alboran (6-1, 6-4).
Purcell, ranked No 43, edged out American wildcard Mitchell Krueger (6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Dallas tournament.
