American Mackenzie McDonald won against Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 5 seed, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to move into the last 8 of the Delray Beach Open at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.
McDonald, ranked No 56, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 3 seed, and American Michael Mmoh next.
The American beat Japanese Taro Daniel (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Delray Beach tournament.
In the first round of the Delray Beach tournament, Nishioka, ranked No 34, edged out German Oscar Otte (6-3, 0-6, 6-4).
