Australian qualifier Christopher O’Connell advanced to the second round of the Dubai Open by beating Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 7-5, 6-4 at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
O’Connell, ranked No 92, will play German Alexander Zverev, the No 7 seed, next.
