Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed, won against Italian Lorenzo Sonego 7-6 (4), 6-3 to reach the second round of the Dubai Open at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Monday.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 11, will face Russian Karen Khachanov next.
