European Open: Barrere holds off Galan for second round berth

Gregoire Barrere won against Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 6-1, 7-6 (5) to move into the second round of the European Open at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Monday afternoon.

The Frenchman served well to see off a second set fight back from Galan, making 69 percent of his first serves and winning the point 81 percent of the time. He also played error-free tennis, striking zero unforced errors across the course of the one hour, 12 minute match.

Barrere, ranked No 72, will face No 3 seed Alexander Bublik next.
