Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut advanced to the final of the European Open by defeating Frenchman Hugo Gaston 6-3, 6-4 at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Saturday.
Bautista Agut, ranked No 60, will face the winner of the match between American Marcos Giron, the No 8 seed, and No 5 seed Jiri Lehecka next.
The 36-year-old Spaniard won against French qualifier Luca Van Assche (6-2, 6-1), Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 6 seed (7-6 (2), 6-4) and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 3 seed (3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6)) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Antwerp Open, Gaston, ranked No 77, beat Russian qualifier Alexey Vatutin (3-6, 6-3, 6-3), Argentinian Mariano Navone, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4)) and Australian Alex De Minaur, the top seed (6-3, 3-6, 7-5).
