Fery’s Wimbledon run rewrites his ranking, schedule, and holiday
Arthur Fery’s Wimbledon run has pushed him inside the world’s top 40 for the first time, reshaping his schedule into the US hard-court season and, for now, putting his planned Greek holiday on hold.

Arthur Fery’s run to the Wimbledon semifinals will lift him to a career-high ranking of world No. 36 on Monday, inside the top 40 for the first time and enough, in his own words, to change how his season looks from here. “It’s going to change things, for sure,” the British wild card said in his press conference after his 7-6, 6-2, 6-4 loss to Alexander Zverev. “I’m going to be able to play tour events at least for a full year, hopefully for more.”
Fery said he still hadn’t seen the number itself. “I still don’t have my new ranking,” he said. “It will definitely take time to get used to, to fully digest.” But he already has a rough shape for the rest of the season. Montreal remains undecided, he said, though he plans to play Cincinnati and Winston-Salem before what will be his first US Open main draw.
Beyond that, he named the Asian swing as a priority – “definitely Shanghai Masters,” along with Tokyo and Beijing – as well as a return to Australia, “I love that place,” and possibly Monte-Carlo.
Before any of that, though, Fery has a rearranged holiday to sort out. He had planned a trip to Greece with friends immediately after Wimbledon and before the US swing. “I was always planning on having a holiday after Wimbledon before the US,” he said, smiling, after his semifinal exit. “I was meant to be coming back from holiday today. That’s obviously going to change.”
One friend had flown out ahead of him “hoping I would lose” so Fery could join him sooner, only to fly home two days later to support him in person instead. Whether the trip still happens is unclear: “We’ll see if that’s still in the cards,” Fery said, adding that he first needs to “recharge the batteries” and process a grass swing he called mentally challenging before heading to the United States.
