American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, won against Frenchman Quentin Halys 6-4, 7-6 (5) to reach the last 8 of the Geneva Open at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Wednesday.
Fritz, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 6 seed, next.
Halys, ranked No 50, edged out Spaniard Jaume Munar (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the Geneva tournament.
