American John Isner, the second seed, edged out Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, the No 5 seed, 7-6 (2), 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5) to advance to the last four of the Hall of Fame Open at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Thursday evening.
Isner, ranked No 22 at the ATP, will face No 4 seed Maxime Cressy next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 37-year-old American won against German Peter Gojowczyk (6-3, 7-6 (6)) ahead of his victory. Bonzi, ranked No 48, defeated American qualifier William Blumberg (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) and American qualifier Christopher Eubanks (6-4, 7-6 (5)).
