Hamburg Open: Altmaier upsets Rublev to reach quarter-finals

German Daniel Altmaier stunned in-form Russian Andrey Rublev, the second seed, 6-2, 6-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Thursday evening.
Altmaier, ranked No 61, will face the winner of the match between German Yannick Hanfmann and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang next.

In the previous round of the Hamburg tournament, the German won against Frenchman Richard Gasquet (7-5, 6-4).
Rublev, ranked No 7, edged out Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles (5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (7)) in the first round of the Hamburg tournament.
