Italian Flavio Cobolli edged out Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 to move into the final of the Hamburg Open at Tennis Stadion on Friday.
Cobolli, ranked No 35, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 6 seed, and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 3 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Italian beat Ukrainian lucky loser Vitaliy Sachko (5-7, 6-2, 6-2), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 5 seed (6-4, 7-5) and Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (7-6 (4), 6-0).
Etcheverry, ranked No 55, won against Francisco Comesana (7-6 (4), 6-3), Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-4, 6-4) and Jiri Lehecka (7-5, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Hamburg tournament.
