Karen Khachanov beat Fabio Fognini 6-3, 7-5 on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, and Serb Filip Krajinovic in the next round
Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 7 seed, beat Italian Fabio Fognini 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Thursday.
Khachanov, ranked No 26, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, and Serb Filip Krajinovic next.
The Russian edged out German wildcard Jan-Lennard Struff (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (2)) in the previous round. Fognini, ranked No 61, edged out Slovenian Aljaz Bedene (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5)).
