Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 8 seed, defeated Swiss qualifier Marc-Andrea Huesler 7-5, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium in Hong Kong on Thursday night.
Fils, ranked No 36, will face Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed, and qualifier Liam Broady next.
The 19-year-old Frenchman won against Croat Borna Gojo (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) in the previous round of the Hong Kong tournament.
During the first round of the Hong Kong tournament, Huesler, ranked No 194, beat Ukrainian qualifier Vitaliy Sachko (6-4, 6-4).
