Belgian Zizou Bergs advanced to the second round of the Houston Open by defeating American qualifier Patrick Kypson 7-6 (5), 6-3 at River Oaks Country Club on Monday evening.
Bergs, ranked No 111, will face top seed Ben Shelton next.
