Machac’s Indian Wells campaign ends with retirement in second round

Japanese qualifier Yosuke Watanuki reached the third round of the Indian Wells Masters when No 19 seed Tomas Machac retired on Friday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Watanuki, ranked No 349, led 4-6, 4-2 when Machac, ranked No 20, pulled out.
The Japanese will face the winner of the match between Bosnian qualifier Damir Dzumhur and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 16 seed, next.
Yosuke Watanuki defeated Kazakh Alexander Bublik (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
