American wildcard Tristan Boyer moved into the second round of the Indian Wells Masters by edging out Australian Aleksandar Vukic 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in California on Wednesday.
Boyer, ranked No 117, will play No 10 seed Tommy Paul next.
