Indian Wells: Ruud sees off one Frenchman, meets another in round of 16

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 9 seed, beat Frenchman Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the Indian Wells Masters at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Monday night.

Ruud, ranked No 9, will play Frenchman Gael Monfils next.

The Norwegian won against Slovak qualifier Lukas Klein (6-4, 7-6 (4)) ahead of his victory.

In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters, Fils, ranked No 43, won against Portuguese Nuno Borges (7-6 (5), 6-2) and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 23 seed (6-3, 6-4).
