Ivanisevic wary of Nadal for 2024: “I’m convinced he’ll be dangerous on his comeback, especially at Roland-Garros”

After a very successful summer alongside Novak Djokovic, with two titles in Cincinnati and at the US Open, Goran Ivanisevic is now resting. The Croatian has taken the opportunity to undergo knee surgery, and is in the midst of a convalescence period.

He hopes to be fit enough to accompany the world No 1 at the Rolex Paris Masters, but admits that it would be more likely for him to make his return for the ATP Finals in Turin, as he recently told Croatian media outlet Sportske Novosti.

Ivanisevic was invited to comment on the latest tennis news, starting with Rafael Nadal’s possible return to the tour next year. In recent days, the Spaniard has been posting videos of himself training on his social networks.

In an interview this month, Nadal explained that he was aiming for a comeback at the Australian Open if possible. The Croatian coach believes that the 37-year-old will be very dangerous if he returns to the circuit, particularly at Roland-Garros, where he has 14 titles to his name.

“I agree, it’s the best news for world tennis right now if he comes back. That’s all well and good, but we still have to wait for Nadal to say it. Only then can we be sure of a return and, at least for another year, the continuation of the great rivalry with Novak.

“I’m convinced Nadal will be fine, he wouldn’t come back if he didn’t feel ready, and I’m convinced he’ll be dangerous at Roland-Garros. In fact, he’ll be the most dangerous because nobody has been as dominant as him at Roland-Garros, and it’s possible that in the year of the Olympics, he’ll be aiming for the double crown in Paris.”
