Japan Open: Second seed Ruud moves into second round

Casper Ruud won against Yosuke Watanuki 7-6 (6), 6-3 on Tuesday and will face American qualifier Marcos Giron in the next round

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed, reached the second round of the Japan Open by winning against Japanese wildcard Yosuke Watanuki 7-6 (6), 6-3 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Ruud, ranked No 8, will face American qualifier Marcos Giron next.
