American Jenson Brooksby, the No 8 seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Korea Open after second seed Cameron Norrie withdrew before the match on Friday at the Seoul Olympic Park.
Norrie withdrew will illness, said the ATP without giving details. This is the third withdrawal this week in Seoul after Borna Coric (Monday) and Taylor Fritz (Thursday).
Brooksby, ranked No 46, will face Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 4 seed, next, who defeated Radu Albot (6-2, 6-2).
Earlier in the tournament, the 21-year-old American defeated qualifier Tung-lin Wu (7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-0) and SoonWoo Kwon (6-3, 6-4).
Norrie, ranked No 8, won against Japanese wildcard Kaichi Uchida (6-2, 6-2). He complained about the jetlag after his match. He was involved in the Laver Cup event last week in London. Norrie is still chasing a spot in the ATP Finals.
