Madrid Masters: Zverev stunned by Cerundolo in fourth round

Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 21 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters by defeating German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed, 6-3, 6-4 at the Caja Magica on Tuesday.

Cerundolo, ranked No 22, will face American Taylor Fritz, the No 12 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Argentinian won against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (6-2, 7-6 (5)) and American Tommy Paul, the No 15 seed (6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-2).

Zverev, ranked No 5, beat Croat Borna Coric (6-3, 6-2) and Canadian Denis Shapovalov (6-4, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
