Madrid Masters: Lehecka through to last 16

No 30 seed Jiri Lehecka beat Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro 6-4, 7-6 (7) to move into the last 16 of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Magica on Monday.

Lehecka, ranked No 31, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Argentinian Pedro Cachin next.

In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, Jiri Lehecka won against Serb qualifier Hamad Medjedovic (7-5, 6-4).

Monteiro, ranked No 118, won against Serb Dusan Lajovic (6-4, 6-3) and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
