Madrid Masters: Medvedev books spot in third round
Daniil Medvedev edged out Matteo Arnaldi 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday afternoon. He’ll play American Sebastian Korda, the No 25 seed, in the next round

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, advanced to the third round of the Madrid Masters by edging out Italian Matteo Arnaldi 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at the Caja Magica on Saturday.
He has now reached the quarter-finals of all nine Masters 1000 events.
The win over Arnaldi means he is now 15-0 against players ranked outside the Top 20 over the course of his career – and it means he has 20 tour-level wins for the eighth consecutive season.
Medvedev, ranked No 4, will play American Sebastian Korda, the No 25 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, Arnaldi, ranked No 36, won against Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-4, 6-1).
