Mallorca Open: Safiullin upsets Muller in first round

Russian Roman Safiullin won against Frenchman Alexandre Muller, the No 5 seed, 7-6 (5), 7-5 to move into the second round of the Mallorca Open at Mallorca Country Club on Monday.

Safiullin, ranked No 75, will play the winner of the match between American qualifier Nishesh Basavareddy and Serb Hamad Medjedovic next.
