Marseille Open: Ymer books spot in last eight after Goffin withdrawal

Mikael Ymer benefited from the forfeit of David Goffin on Thursday. He’ll face the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the top seed, and Swiss Leandro Riedi in the next round

Swede Mikael Ymer advanced to the quarter-finals of the Marseille Open after Belgian David Goffin, the No 6 seed, withdrew before the match on Thursday at the Palais des sports de Marseille.

Ymer, ranked No 69, will face the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the top seed, and Swiss Leandro Riedi next.

The Swede won against Radu Albot (6-3, 7-6 (5)) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Open de Provence, Goffin, ranked No 41, beat Slovak qualifier Lukas Klein (6-2, 6-4).
