Lorenzo Sonego edged out No 4 seed Flavio Cobolli 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to reach the last 8 of the Metz Open at the Arènes de Metz on Tuesday evening.
Sonego, ranked No 42, will face the winner of the match between French wildcard Hugo Gaston and German Daniel Altmaier next.
In the previous round of the Metz tournament, Lorenzo Sonego edged out English qualifier Jan Choinski (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).
