Miami Masters: Rublev upended by Machac in second round

World No 6 Andrey Rublev suffered his second early exit in succession as he was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Czech left-hander Tomas Machac in the second round of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium on Friday.

In windy conditions after the start of play was delayed for several hours due to rain, Machac picked up his first top-10 win and the best win of his career, by ranking, to book his place in round three.

Rublev also lost early in Indian Wells last time out, beaten in the third round by Jiri Lehecka.

The world No 60 will face the winner of the match between Andy Murray and Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 29 seed, next.

Machac won against American wildcard Darwin Blanch (6-4, 6-2) ahead of his victory.
