Russian Roman Safiullin advanced to the second round of the Miami Masters by winning against American Jenson Brooksby 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday.
Safiullin, ranked No 71, will play No 25 seed Alexei Popyrin next.
