Russian Roman Safiullin reached the third round of the Miami Masters by edging out Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 25 seed, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. Safiullin, ranked No 71, will face Jakub Mensik next.
