Miami Masters: Shapovalov reaches third round after second-set wobble
Denis Shapovalov edged out Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (3) on Saturday and will face American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, in the next round

Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 27 seed, moved into the third round of the Miami Masters by edging out Argentinian qualifier Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (3) at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
He could have wrapped it up much earlier, having three match points at 6-3, 5-3, 40-0 on his serve – but he dropped them and lost the set in a tiebreak.
However, he got through the decider, once again in a tiebreak.
Shapovalov, ranked No 28, will play American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, next.
Tirante, ranked No 117, defeated Italian Flavio Cobolli (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Miami Open.
