Miami Masters: Fils through to third round

Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 17 seed, reached the third round of the Miami Masters when Canadian lucky loser Gabriel Diallo retired at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.

Fils, ranked No 18, led 6-4, 2-3 when Diallo, ranked No 87, pulled out.

The 20-year-old Frenchman will play American Frances Tiafoe, the No 16 seed, next.

The Canadian won against Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry (6-3, 6-0) in the previous round of the Miami Open.
