Miami Masters: Teenager Mensik advances to last 16

Jakub Mensik continued his impressive run at the Miami Open on Monday as he beat Russia’s Roman Safiullin 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the last 16.

Mensik, ranked No 54, will face No 20 seed Tomas Machac next.

Jakub Mensik defeated Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) and No 6 seed Jack Draper (7-6 (2), 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds of the Miami Open.

Earlier in the tournament, Safiullin, ranked No 71, won against American Jenson Brooksby (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and edged out Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 25 seed (6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5).
