Monte-Carlo Masters: Hurkacz makes last 16 despite valiant Draper effort

Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 10 seed, reached the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters by edging out Jack Draper 6-3, 6-7 (3), 7-5 at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Tuesday.
Hurkacz, ranked No 13, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Diego Schwartzman and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 7 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, the Pole edged out Serb Laslo Djere (6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5)).
Draper, ranked No 56, won against Argentinian Sebastian Baez (6-3, 7-5) in the first round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
