Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed, edged out Serb Novak Djokovic, the top seed, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to reach the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club.

Ruud, ranked No 10, will play Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 12 seed, next.

The Norwegian won against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (6-2, 6-4), Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 10 seed (6-4, 6-2) and Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 14 seed (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) ahead of his victory.

In the previous rounds of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Djokovic, ranked No 1, beat Russian Roman Safiullin (6-1, 6-2), Italian Lorenzo Musetti (7-5, 6-3) and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 11 seed (7-5, 6-4).
