Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters by winning against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp 7-5, 7-6 (1) at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday.

Ruud, ranked No 4, will face German qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff next.

In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Van De Zandschulp, ranked No 31, beat Hungarian qualifier Marton Fucsovics (3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1).
