Dutchman Jesper De Jong reached the second round of the Montpellier Open when French wildcard Quentin Halys retired on Wednesday at the Sud de France Arena.
De Jong, ranked No 131, led 7-6 (7), 2-0 when Halys, ranked No 74, pulled out on Wednesday afternoon at the Sud de France Arena.
The Dutchman will face No 3 seed Flavio Cobolli next.
