Montreal Masters: Čilić reaches last 16

Marin Čilić beat Karen Khachanov 6-3, 6-2 on Wednesday evening. He’ll face American Tommy Paul in the next round

Croat Marin Čilić, the No 13 seed, reached the last 16 of the Montreal Masters by beating Russian Karen Khachanov 6-3, 6-2 at Stade IGA on Wednesday evening.

Čilić, ranked No 16, will play American Tommy Paul next.

The 33-year-old Croat won against Borna Coric (6-3, 6-2) in the previous round of the Coupe Rogers.

In the previous round of the Coupe Rogers, Khachanov, ranked No 28, won against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo (7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-3).
