Spanish qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas reached the second round of the Munich Open by defeating Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-4 at the MTTC Iphitos complex.
Moro Canas, ranked No 240, will play No 3 seed Taylor Fritz next.
