Madrid Masters: Medvedev recovers to beat Nakashima and make quarter-finals

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 9 seed, edged out American Brandon Nakashima, the No 31 seed, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last eight of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Mágica.
Medvedev, ranked No 10, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 14 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament, the Russian benefited from the forfeit of Serb Laslo Djere and beat Argentinian qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-2, 6-2).
Nakashima, ranked No 32, won against Austrian Sebastian Ofner (6-3, 7-6 (3)) and Italian Flavio Cobolli (7-5, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
