Brazil’s Joao Fonseca became the last player to secure his place in the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals on Friday, November 29. Fonseca’s qualification meant the 20-under-20 tournament’s line-up is now complete.
The 18-year-old has joined Arthur Fils, Alex Michelsen, Jakub Mensik, Shang Juncheng, Learner Tien, Lucas van Assche, and Nishesh Basvareddy for the youth competition scheduled to run from December 18-22 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Fonseca has made big strides on the ATP Tour in 2024, improving to a career-high ranking of world No 145 from No 727 at the turn of the year. He caught the tennis world’s eye in February by making a run to the semi-finals of the Rio Open (ATP 500).
The Brazilian defeated No 7 seed Arthur Fils and Cristian Garin during the home campaign.
