French qualifier Alexandre Muller advanced to the second round of the Qatar Open by edging out Georgian lucky loser Nikoloz Basilashvili 7-6 (3), 6-7 (8), 6-4 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Tuesday afternoon.
Muller, ranked No 170, will face Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 8 seed, next.
