Qatar Open: Popyrin books spot in last eight

Australian Alexei Popyrin reached the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open by winning against French qualifier Hugo Grenier 7-6 (3), 6-7 (8), 6-1 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday.
Popyrin, ranked No 46, will face Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 4 seed, next.
The Australian edged out Jordanian wildcard Abdullah Shelbayh (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Doha tournament.
In the first round of the Doha tournament, Grenier, ranked No 151, defeated German lucky loser Maximilian Marterer (7-6 (5), 7-5).
