Qatar Open: Rublev saves three match points, squeezes past Griekspoor into last eight

Andrey Rublev edged out Tallon Griekspoor 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6) on Wednesday and will face Czech Jiri Lehecka in the next round

Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed, edged out Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday afternoon.

Rublev, ranked No 5, trailed 5-2 in the third set and saved three match points before squeezing through in a final-set tiebreak. The Russian will face Czech Jiri Lehecka next.

Griekspoor, ranked No 40, edged out Frenchman Quentin Halys (7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the Doha Open.
