Paris Masters: Top seed Alcaraz eases through to last 16, plays Dimitrov next

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday evening and will play Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the next round

World No 1 Carlos Alcaraz beat Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of Paris Masters at the Accor Arena on Wednesday evening.

The Spaniard will face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who beat Italian lucky loser Fabio Fognini 6-0, 7-5.

The US Open champion had his left knee taped but didn’t show any obvious signs of discomfort as he wrapped up victory in one hour, 12 minutes.

In the previous round, Nishioka, ranked No 38, won against Russian Aslan Karatsev (6-3, 6-4).
