Rome Masters: Giron books spot in second round

American Marcos Giron edged out Canadian Gabriel Diallo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico on Thursday.

Giron, ranked No 45, will play No 4 seed Taylor Fritz next.
