Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, moved into the last four of the Dutch Open by winning against Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 7-6 [8], 6-4 at the Autotron Rosmalen on Friday evening.

Medvedev, who is ranked No 2 in the world at the moment but who will rise to the top spot shortly, will play Frenchman Adrian Mannarino next.

He is still looking for his first trophy of 2022 – but will be heartened that he won his first senior title on a grass court last year, in Mallorca.

The Russian defeated French qualifier Gilles Simon (7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

In the previous rounds of the Rosmalen, Ivashka, ranked No 49, beat American Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-7 [8], 6-1) and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (6-4, 6-2).

Rosmalen ATP 250, other last eight results (Autotron Rosmalen, grass, EUR 725.540, most recent results first):

  • Felix Auger-Aliassime (2) beat Karen Khachanov (5): 7-6 [5], 6-4
  • Adrian Mannarino beat Brandon Nakashima: 6-7 [5], 6-1, 6-4
  • Tim van Rijthoven (WC) beat Hugo Gaston: 7-6 [2], 6-4
